I am a professional mosaic artist working in Talent, OR, that accepts private and public commissions. I am a member of SAMA-the Society of American Mosaic Artists and also a member of Clayfolk, the Southern Oregon Potters Association. Although I primarily create mosaic art, I also create works of functional ceramics, stained glass, sculpture, and various other media.
In 2012 I designed and created a handmade ceramic tile mosaic, “Places”, a sidewalk mosaic for the City of Grants Pass, OR for their “History Underfoot” project.
I was the main artist-for-hire on the first public art piece commissioned by the City of Ashland, OR, “Rio Amistad”. This 300 square foot handmade ceramic tile piece was completed in 2005, by Illahe Tileworks. In addition, I was one of three artists from Illahe to create the “Life Cycle of the Salmon” handmade ceramic tile mosaic for the Portland Zoo in 2004.
In 2000 I and a team of two others created mosaics and sculptural elements for a private residence in St. Louis, MO from recycled tile, marble, and plaster. It won “Home of the Year” in St. Louis Magazine in 2000 and was recently featured in the St. Louis Post Dispatch in an article in the home section.
From 1997-99 I helped to create hundreds of square feet of mosaic art in the then new City Museum of St. Louis, MO.

Hi Karen,
I would like to purchase an eight hour block of open studio time for Carol Berger’s birthday, which I believe would cost $96.00. She is a New Years baby.
Can I do that online? Or I could meet you today at the Downtowne Coffee Shoppe in Talent, or even at your house.
I look forward to your reply.
Thanks for being you!

Hi Fred! I’m home now if you’d like to stop over! 105 John St.
Hi again Karen,
Well, yesterday Carol felt like crap and was admitted (“for observation”) to Ashland Community Hospital, and she is still there so it looks like she will not be able to be at your studio for your meeting scheduled for 1:00PM Sunday (tomorrow). Carol is in no imminent danger, but her blood pressure had been spiking pretty high briefly and so the medical people are checking her out. She hopes to be discharged to home today but we await word from a doctor about when she can go home. She is safe, but she feels crappy and frustrated.
Please let me know when you see this message.
Thanks,
Fredric Berger

I am just beginning to try the art of mosaic and have been looking online for small bird substrates. Do you happen to sell them or know where I could purchase them? I just want to make a few for family and friends. Your work is beautiful! Thank you!
